Job Summary
The Revenue Accountant will play a key role in SOGC’s Accounting Department by ensuring accurate and timely processing of revenue transactions across both operated and non-operated properties. This position is responsible for maintaining revenue decks and agreements, processing receipts and payments, preparing regulatory reports, and supporting compliance with federal and state requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced upstream oil & gas environment.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Processing
- Process operated and non-operated revenue receipts.
- Process accounts receivable (AR) receipts.
- Process revenue payments to interest owners.
- Post revenue files to EnergyLink and internal portals.
- Confirm that revenue receipts are accurate by reconciling payments against contractual terms and reported production volumes.
- Ensure revenue payments are reconciled and variances identified/resolved within established timelines.
Revenue Maintenance
- Maintain and update revenue decks, including ownership changes and interest adjustments.
- Maintain and review revenue-related agreements.
- Prepare and process revenue prior-period adjustments.
Regulatory & Compliance
- Prepare and submit ONRR (Office of Natural Resources Revenue) filings.
- Prepare and file severance and withholding tax reports.
- Complete other state and federal regulatory reporting as required.
- Coordinate compliance reviews with State and Federal auditors as required
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with the Accounting Manager and broader Accounting team to ensure accurate revenue reporting.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations for revenue-related transactions.
- Identify process improvements and assist in implementing best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
- 5 years of accounting experience; oil & gas revenue accounting strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with ONRR and severance tax reporting requirements.
- Strong proficiency with accounting software and Excel; experience with Enertia Software preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
