Sr. Backend Engineer

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Sr. Backend Engineer for a contract assignment with one of our premier SaaS clients in San Jose, CA . This is a hybrid role, with 3 days per week onsite.

Responsibilities :

• Develop and maintain backend services using Java (Spring Boot) and Ruby.
• Design and optimize GraphQL and RESTful APIs for internal and external consumption.
• Collaborate with product managers, technical leads, and other engineers to understand business and customer objectives Participate in technical discussions, root cause analysis, and performance tuning.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, Git, and Docker.
• Maintain and enhance legacy Ruby codebases while migrating them to modern Java services.
• Ensure application reliability through monitoring tools like New Relic, Splunk, or Grafana.
• Deploy and manage services on AWS, leveraging Lambda, RDS, and API Gateway.
  
  

Required Skills :

• 3 years of backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and Ruby.
• Experience with GraphQL schema design and query optimization 4.
• Solid understanding of SQL (e.g., Postgres) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
• Familiarity with APM tools and monitoring frameworks.
• Experience with AWS cloud services and deployment strategies.
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git), Agile methodologies, and DevOps practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Education: Bachelor Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
