Sr Accountant

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for an Sr Accountant for a CONTRACT assignment with one of our premier Architecture, Engineering and Construction clients in Holmdel, NJ .

Hybrid Schedule, 3 days in office, 2 remote - may require more time onsite for month end close and year end close.

SGA is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to support our Clients finance team in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Assistant Controller and other finance professionals to drive the integrity of financial reporting and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage general ledger maintenance, including accurate recording of debits and credits
• Lead and support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and precise financial close activities
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries in accordance with company policies and accounting principles
• Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits, including SOX compliance and audit documentation
• Prepare financial statements, reports, and reconciliations to support business analysis and decision-making
• Ensure compliance with state and local tax filings, and assist with related financial reporting requirements
• Collaborate with project teams on accounting aspects related to project setups, billing, and cost tracking
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and support automation of financial workflows
  
  

Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals including debits and credits, journal entries, and reconciliations
• Experience managing month-end close and year-end close processes within a corporate environment
• Familiarity with SOX compliance and audit procedures
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency with accounting software and MS Excel; experience in engineering or design industry is a plus
• Relevant accounting certifications (CPA, CMA) preferred but not required
• Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and external auditors
