Job Summary
Shift: First Shift
Organizes and manages the Diagnostic Medical Sonography section of the Medical Imaging department and supervises section personnel. As a working supervisor, routinely performs the duties of an Ultrasound Technologist.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required:
- Completion of formal program in Ultrasound and certified with ARRT or ARDMS
- Thorough knowledge of ultrasound protocols, procedures, and techniques with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience
- Previous supervisory experience
- Demonstrated organizational and communication skills and leadership potential
- BCLS certified
Preferred:
- Above plus Associate Degree in ultrasound technology or radiography
- RVT certification
ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
- Must demonstrate ability to apply age-appropriate principles of communication and technical practice relevant to neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
- Must demonstrate competence in the use of equipment and application of procedures before performing independently
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Supervises:
- Staff Ultrasound Technologists
Reports To:
- Radiologist(s) or Attending Physician(s) for clinical direction
- Clinical Manager, Medical Imaging for clinical, operational, and administrative issues
ACCESS TO INFORMATION
- Demographic: patient information such as name, date of birth, address, medical record numbers, etc.
- Clinical: admission chart, diagnosis, previous radiology reports, and other related data
- Organization: department and organizational policies and procedures
- Knowledge-based: access to Information Center reference resources and continuing educational seminars
TEACHING/INSTRUCTION RESPONSIBILITIES
- As assigned, provides instruction in the application of ultrasound procedures to students and other employees
- Contributes to the professional development of specified personnel by observing work, answering questions, explaining proper procedures, demonstrating techniques, and intervening as warranted to correct deficiencies or help resolve problems
- Effectively explains procedures and protocols, demonstrates procedures and techniques, and answers questions when teaching/overseeing others
- Provides objective, substantiated observations regarding technical competence of others upon request

Pay: $40.00 - $60.00 per hour
