Forklift Operator – Sofidel Tissue
Sofidel Tissue, a global leader in tissue paper manufacturing, is seeking a Forklift Operator. This role handles paper product and materials throughout the mill in a safe and timely manner with movement by forklift and clamp trucks. The Forklift Operator also works closely with the Distribution team and external transportation contacts to provide safe and efficient delivery to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Unload material and product from incoming vehicles and distribute to assigned locations
- Ensure inventory is accurately tracked and managed
- Assist with the unloading and working of broke rolls/bale trailers
- Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies
- Regularly inspect machinery to determine the need for repairs and guarantee safety by performing regular maintenance
- Offload raw materials and deliver to converting lines
- Communicate with converting lines and warehouse
- Able to move and work efficiently in different areas of the Warehouse as needed
- Able to reset Laser Guided Vehicles (LGVs)
- Align with Warehouse leadership on issues and discrepancies
- Keep up with daily load production volume
- Hold self and others to high level of safety standards, ensuring workplace safety policies are upheld and safety rules are followed (lockout/tagout procedures, confined spaces, appropriate PPE)
- Participate as needed in safety incidents and help investigate root cause
- Maintain a clean working environment by complying with procedures and housekeeping responsibilities including daily lift blowdowns
- Knowledge of trailer LOTO procedures (trailer stands, glad hand locks)
- Safely empty trash hoppers in compactors
- Demonstrated knowledge of all waste hopper identification
- Properly store non-hazardous chemicals in warehouse and understand emergency procedures if needed
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required)
- Knowledge of Laser Guided Vehicles (LGVs) (preferred)
- Understand and comply with all manufacturing safety procedures including personal protective equipment (required)
- Able to work in a physically demanding environment including temperature extremes, loud noise, avoiding slipping, tripping, and falling hazards
- Physically capable of manual labor that includes bending, walking, sitting, and climbing in and around machinery and equipment for entire 12-hour shift
- Able to lift, up to 40 lbs frequently, between 40 and 50 lbs occasionally, over 50 lbs minimally. When lifting 50 lbs and above, Operator will use team lifting and overhead crane assistance.
- Work environment includes exposure to compressed air, steam, lubrication oil, dust, and hydraulic fluid.

Example of rotating shift schedule:
Day 1: 6:00am – 6:30pm
Day 2: 6:00am – 6:30pm
Day 3: 6:00pm – 6:30am
Day 4: 6:00pm – 6:30am
