The Production Manager will be responsible for managing the daily activities of the paper production process, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met. This role requires a strong background in paper manufacturing processes, team leadership, and process improvement.
Job Responsibilities
- Production Oversight: Oversight for 3 Tissue Machines: Manage and oversee the day-to-day paper production operations, including stock preparation, papermaking, coating, and chemicals to meet production targets and quality standards.
- Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and mentor a team of production staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Resource Allocation: Efficiently allocate resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to optimize production output and minimize downtime.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that paper products meet or exceed quality standards and customer expectations by implementing quality control measures.
- Safety Compliance: Promote and enforce safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements. Implement best practices and lean manufacturing principles.
- Inventory Management: Manage raw materials and finished goods inventory to maintain optimal stock levels and minimize waste.
- Budget Management: Assist in the development and management of the department's budget, controlling costs while meeting production goals.
- Capital Projects: Oversee all capital improvements on tissue machines and stock preparation areas. This includes submitting approval, budgeting, project management, vendor management and safety.
- Bachelor's degree in paper science, engineering, or a related field.
- 2 years’ experience in paper manufacturing, with some experience in a supervisory or management role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of papermaking processes, equipment, and quality control.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance.
- Proficiency in using computer software for production planning and reporting.
