Job Responsibilities
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, manuals, and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and corporate safety and environmental regulations.
- Design and conduct training programs for employees, supervisors, and managers to reinforce a safety-first culture.
- Oversee emergency action plans for employee and facility safety.
- Manage and facilitate new employee and contractor safety orientations.
- Act as the safety representative for all new equipment installations.
- Lead Safety Committee meetings and promote active employee engagement in safety initiatives.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
- Manage workers' compensation claims, liaising with insurance carriers and brokers as necessary.
- Observe and coach employees on safe work behaviors and best practices.
- Oversee PPE inventory and distribution to ensure compliance with workplace safety requirements.
- Prepare and manage the safety budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation.
- Act as the facility security administrator, ensuring workplace security measures align with company policies.
- Stay current on industry best practices and regulatory changes, integrating new developments into safety programs.
- Maintain and promote ISO 45001:2018 certification.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health and Safety, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- 5 years' EHS experience in industrial environment.
- Strong leadership, influencing and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communications skills with both internal and external personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to generate and drive significant performance and process improvements.
