Unit Description:The National Gallery of Art welcomes all people to explore and experience art, creativity, and our shared humanity. Open year-round, it draws over three million visitors annually. Guests can refuel with five unique dining experiences across the campus, including four cafés and an espresso and gelato bar. The National Gallery of Art also hosts private social events during both regular hours and after hours.Job Overview:The Executive Steward is an integral member of the Culinary team. They are responsible for managing primarily non-food production areas of the kitchen, to include the dish room, storage areas and other utility areas. The Executive Steward primarily responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout all kitchen areas. In addition, the Executive Steward will manage the inventory, storage, and distribution of banqueting supplies such as silver, china, glassware, and linen.The Executive Steward is responsible for leading the Stewarding Department staff and is responsible for monitoring and organizing the flow of activity within the kitchen in a way that complements and supports quality food preparation and service. Essential Responsibilities:Lead all cleaning and sanitation efforts within Stewarding and kitchen areas, ensuring strict adherence to all health, safety, cleanliness, and sanitation standards throughout these spaces.Support overall food and beverage operations by participating as part of the Culinary Leadership Team; Manage the facility's Stewarding function and its staff members.Control inventory, storage and distribution of supplies.Create and manage staff schedules for the Stewarding department.Ensure Stewarding and Kitchen equipment is properly maintained.Qualifications/Skills:Appropriate combination of education and experience to support on-the-job effectiveness.2 years of previous leadership experience within a diverse food and beverage environment.Previous cleaning and stewarding experience.Strong working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and general workplace safety standards with knowledge of Health Department requirements. Salary: $75000 - $80000 per year
