Job Description: Culinary Director
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Culinary Director will oversee everyone who works in the kitchen, which includes Dishwashers, Cooks, and Servers. They always work in a food service environment, and typically report to the Executive Director.
Essential Duties:
- Provide exceptional personal care
- Make meals that are appetizing, cleanly presented and based on a predetermined nutritional menu
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the kitchen
- Engage residents in a multitude of activities and social interaction

- Participate in meaningful work that improves the lives of the resident, your co-workers, and you!
Qualifications:
- Basic cooling skills, including able to identify common cooking terms (frying, roasting, baking, cream, thicken, mix, finely chop, etc) know common measurements (tsp. versus tablespoon), demonstrate safe cooking temperatures, and menu and recipe reading comprehension.
- Current health food handler card.
- People person - must be comfortable interacting with residents, family members and other Sodalis staff members.
- Leadership - (the kitchen is the social hub of the community).
- Proactive thinking (exploring other options based on resident's needs).
- Able to order for menus, follow budget and make appropriate substitutions when necessary.
- Problem Solving.
- Personal Development
- At least 5 years’ experience with Alzheimer’s patients and other dementias in a residential setting preferred.
- Assist with other duties as assigned or needed.
