What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jr. Technical Sales Support Engineer position at Socomec Group?

A Jr. Technical Sales/Support Engineer (JTSE) interacts directly with Sales, Reps, Distributors, and especially with Customers – answering technical questions, providing resources and documents, analysing applications to provide product recommendations, conducting seminars and trainings on Socomec products, and troubleshooting issues both over the phone and in the field.

This team serves as experts in Socomec products, used as and the stepping stone into other positions throughout the organization.

Technical Support

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities

  • Become an expert in Socomec products; retain and convey extensive knowledge of Socomec products to be used as a resource for Field activities (Sales, Service, Business Dev)
  • Answer technical inquiries from both the clients and internal employees through Email-to-Case ticketing system
  • Investigate and troubleshoot customer problems; provide technical assistance and support by referencing technical manuals, conferring with users, and/or conducting product diagnostics
  • Handle “Reactive” situations; ability to work under pressure or pivot priorities as more-pressing situations reveal themselves
  • Effectively navigate Socomec’s network of experts, both in North America and Globally, to effectively and efficiently leverage their experience
  • Understand and Clearly Articulate the governing standards applicable to both Socomec products and the larger systems they are installed within
  • Train and onboard New Sales/Non-technical professionals on the Socomec portfolio and relevant applications.
  • Become a primary user for multiple data platforms and softwares, both Socomec and 3rd Party
  • Prepare/manage official reports for Remote Support and Customer calls

Applications Engineering

  • Confer directly with customers to assess equipment needs and to determine system requirements
  • Develop, present, and respond to proposals for customer requirements; work with business developers to propose industry-specific solutions
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations explaining Socomec products, features, connectivity, and/or services to customers and prospective customers
  • Host trainings focused on Socomec products and targeted customer applications
  • Conduct Site-Audits; point out potential challenges with customer’s design and recommend solutions; anticipate potential issues around installation, integration, network implementation, or limitations of specified devices
  • Conduct demonstrations and trial installations of equipment; Manipulate demo/sample equipment and give walkthroughs of device setup and usage

Marketing Support

  • Confer with Product Marketing, MARCOM, Business Development, and Regional Sales Teams to support Socomec’s marketing strategies and activities; promote products and services
  • Present seminars/webinars with Q&A sessions to clients, general sales teams and reps;
  • Participate in promotional activities like Conventions and Trade Shows
  • Prepare situational case studies based on experiences in the field
  • Assist in the creation and management of marketing collateral materials for product launches and upgrades/updates
  • Update technical aspects of promotional materials, and collaborate with Marketing team to update existing marketing resources to modern offerings
  • Support with product catalog; confer with Marketing team to ensure all corrections are implemented

Mandatory Qualifications

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge And Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering-based curriculum.
  • Minimum 2 Years experience in a position with Direct-Customer interaction

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of related technical experience
  • Preferred previous experience using customer relationship management (CRM) software e.g. Salesforce; update and track customers within software
  • Multilingual skills (especially French or Spanish)
  • Familiarity with electrical standards and codes (e.g., NEC, UL, ANSI, IEC)

Additional Requirements

Hybrid Remote/In-Office expectations:

  • Minimum 3 days per week in-office (when not traveling for business)
  • Morning availability emphasized, in order to interact with colleagues overseas (France esp.)
  • Must possess and maintain an unrestricted valid driver’s license

Possible travel: Up to 30% of yearly working hours, up to 3 trips per month

  • Majority of destinations remain within North America, with potential overseas travel to company HQ in France (for training)
  • Ability to acquire US Passport within 1 year of hire
  • Work effectively when traveling across time-zones

Worksite and Construction exposure

  • Travel to active construction sites, with protective equipment verified/provided by Socomec
  • Safe use of Consumer-level power tools, used for building/repair of testing rigs and demonstration equipment
  • Lock-out-tag-out procedures strictly enforced
