- The Pharmacy Coordinator, within the Department of Pharmacy, is a key leadership position for a pharmacist, with responsibilities for being a team lead, coordinating a program/practice group, or being a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a specific area.
- The responsibilities of the Pharmacy Coordinator will vary based on specialty area.
- The duties and responsibilities for all areas include the following:
- The Pharmacy Coordinator will serve as a leader for the Department of Pharmacy.
- This will include managing, and/or coordinating employees within a work unit. Assists, or is responsible for recruiting and onboarding of staff in the work unit.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with key leaders in specialty area.
- Maintains familiarity with all Division and Departmental programs and initiatives.
- Is responsible for personal and professional competency and growth.
- The SME and Residency Program Director (RPD) Coordinators maintain expertise and experience through staffing in primary area of specialty or similar activity related to work area.
- The SME Coordinator will deliver care in area related to the following functions and may coordinate care across Division(s) or Health System as appropriate: - Evaluate and coordinate delivery of care in practice area(s) - Serves as a leader for practice area - Chairs and participates in relevant meetings as appropriate - Serves as leader for medication related activities, suchas shortage planning,coordinate protocol development and revisions, etc., or similar.
- SME Coordinators focus time on administrative activities pursuant to specialty projects, process improvement, and/or other departmental goals and initiatives.
- Ensures compliance where applicable for accreditation standards.
- The RPD Coordinators provide program management for a Residency Program and ensure compliance and documentation for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accreditation standards and surveys including but not limited to: - Recruit, hire, and coordinate onboarding of resident(s) - Training schedule development and maintenance - Longitudinal progression of the resident(s) - Timely submission of learning experience evaluations - Training plans and quarterly reports - Preceptor selection and development - Learning experience development and maintenance - Designation of residency coordinator activities - Collaboration with the Pharmacy Research Committee to ensure completion of the residency project. - Preparation for ASHP accreditation survey.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Doctor of Pharmacy Degree, or, BS Pharmacy Degree and eligible for license as a Pharmacist by the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy.
- Two years of pharmacy practice experience required.
- Completion of PGY1 Pharmacy Residency or equivalent experience is strongly preferred and PGY2 Specialty Residency in area of specialty is strongly preferred.
- Managerial or supervisor experience, if applicable, is preferred.
- Licensed Pharmacist or eligible to practice pharmacy in North Carolina. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required for employment.
- Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) in area of specialty, if applicable, is strongly preferred.
