OVERALL ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Associate Strategy Director will be instrumental in helping to grow the business and drive success. You’ll work closely with and report directly to the CEO / Head of Strategy. You’ll help grow and support both the Strategy and Account teams by uncovering information, distilling insights and synthesizing them to create inspirational strategy for our creative teams and clients. Your role will span brand strategy, marketing strategy, and creative strategy. Managing multiple internal, new business and client projects, you’ll effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams both internally and externally, as well as running projects independently.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Delivering strategic positions that help brands differentiate in commodity categories: category analysis, consumer research and insights, company analysis, and cultural assessment with a clear and defined point of difference / white space 
• Developing creative briefs that inspire breakthrough work across channels (think: social content, IRL, partnerships, traditional campaigns): Defining the single strategic flag and insight that will propel creative thinking and “Deviate from Duh” strategic thought starters that put creative on the right path 
• Shepherding creative outputs against the strategy through execution: Consistently align the creative output to the strategic direction and help make the work better at every turn
• Drive the development of marketing plans: Make recommendations for strategic launches and evolutions against audience, budget, and timing priorities 
• Collaborate closely with social strategy, media, and analytics to drive the best performing work: Connect the dots between brand strategy, content strategy and ultimate performance 
• Present strategic work to senior-level clients: Confidently share our work and points of view with senior clients (typically VP and above) 

REQUIREMENTS

• 7 years of experience in strategic planning and development at an agency
• A passion for creating brand strategies that solve complex brand challenges and drive new forms of creativity
• A strong ability to link quantitative results with qualitative insights and hypotheses
• Understanding of both traditional and digital media, with experience collaborating / working alongside media and PR agencies
• Ability to effectively manage time and resources in an ever-changing and fast-paced environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent presentation, public speaking, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• An eagerness to collaborate with both internal teams and our clients
• Above all, kindness, composure, and relentless curiosity
