SVS Norwalk Inclusion Center, an innovative day program that serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities wishes to hire high energy individuals with an interest in assisting individuals successfully access their local community.
Activity Leader plans, organizes, and directs personal enrichment activities with clients on-site and in the community.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with individual client’s needs and desires to develop a workable schedule of meaningful activities including, but not limited to: cooking and food preparation; computer use; art; personal style; etc.
- Monitor and/or participate in clients’ activities to make sure that they are performed correctly and to provide encouragement.
- Document client progress in ongoing notes and formal reports.
- Confers with other staff to develop Individual Needs and Service Plan (INSP) goals and objectives; may participate in IPP conferences.
- Utilizes the team approach in working with staff, therapists, parents, and caregivers.
- Works in conjunction with the staff in providing direct assistance to enhance the client's participation in program and community activities.
- Consults, instructs and assists program staff regarding developing meaningful and age-appropriate personal enrichment activities.
- Assists in determining and meeting client’s adaptive equipment needs.
- Participates in identifying, maintaining, cleaning and repairing of games, adaptive leisure equipment, etc.
- Follows safety procedures in the use of this equipment. Instructs staff in the proper and safe use of adaptive equipment.

- $750 hiring bonus after 60th day of full attendance (must work full shift to be counted towards the 60 days).

Must have an Activity Leader certificate from a state-approved program
Must obtain and maintain DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance, have a clean DMV driving record and pass a job related physical.
