What are the responsibilities and job description for the Case Manager (Employment Specialist) - Dads Corps position at Social Advocates for Youth San Diego?
POSITION PROFILE:
If you have a desire to help fathers provide stability for their family, then the Dads Corps Case Manager may be your next position! Under the supervision of the Dad’s Corps management team, the Employment Case Manager oversees job development referrals made by the Dad’s Crops team. The ideal candidate has experience providing intensive case management services to include employment services, vocational rehabilitation experience, and connections to occupational education and training programs. This position also serves as a community broker of employer relationships, creating employment opportunities across multiple industries throughout the San Diego region. Program hours are M – F 8:30 – 5 pm. Flexibility to work evening and weekends as needed for events.
This position is eligible to work a hybrid work schedule not to exceed 40% remote and is housed at SAY’s Family Resource Center in City Heights.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide employment focused case management services through client-centered approach that includes preparing for employment opportunities with mock interviews, completing job applications and understanding keys to job retention.
- Manage case load of disadvantage fathers to include intake, client needs assessment, goal setting, develop individual service plans, employment services, occupational training, and follow-up services
- Maintain accurate client files, document case notes in timely manner, and complete funder reports as requested
- Schedule and conduct in-person visits with clients for intake and or client servicing appointments
- Establish new and maintain existing connections with referral sources offering direct placement of clients in employment positions that align with appropriate skills level and personal needs.
- Demonstrates knowledge of local apprenticeship and OJT opportunities and qualifications.
- Promotes positive communication regarding employment services to potential employers with an established job retention.
- Conducts workshops in large groups as well as individual coaching that includes work readiness skills such as resume building, interview skills, and job development.
- Conducts work readiness workshops in large groups and provides individualized work readiness coaching
- Educates clients on regional labor market and employment trends.
- Actively participates in committees, workgroups and events in San Diego County that directly related and support job development services to include career fairs.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience and Certifications):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Development, Humans Services, or related field preferred. (May substitute degree for commensurate case management experience.)
- Two years’ experience in case management, group facilitation, or direct client service
- Working with military connect populations preferred
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and cultures and socio-economic families
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred
