Piano Instructor (Part-Time, Set Schedule)

Job Summary
Santee Music Academy is seeking an experienced Piano Instructor to join our teaching team at our Santee location. This position is a replacement role with a fully built, set teaching schedule (4 days/week) and enrolled students ready to transition.
The start window is mid–January, with a full schedule takeover by February. This is an employee position, not a contractor role, and is intended for instructors looking for long-term stability within a professional academy.
We are seeking instructors with at least 2 years of piano teaching experience, who work well with students ages 7–13, and are also comfortable teaching high school and adult students.
The ideal candidate is capable of teaching intermediate to advanced students, typically requiring 3–4 years of teaching experience.
Santee Music Academy is one of Southern California's largest and most established music academies, serving over 1,400 weekly students, and recognized for excellence in music education and community impact.
Responsibilities
- Teach private piano lessons to students ages 7–13, with additional high school and adult students
- Instruct beginner through intermediate and advanced-level students
- Customize lessons based on each student's learning style, goals, and experience level
- Maintain a structured, encouraging, and professional lesson environment
- Track attendance and student progress using Academy systems
- Communicate clearly and professionally with families regarding progress and expectations
- Prepare students for recitals, evaluations, and performance opportunities
- Uphold Academy teaching standards and instructional expectations
- Commit to a consistent weekly schedule and long-term role within the Academy
Schedule & Commitment
- Part-time employee position
- 4 days per week
- Weekdays between 1:00pm – 8:30pm
- Set schedule with existing students
- Instructor must be able to commit to this schedule long term
- In-person instruction at the Santee Music Academy location
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of piano teaching experience (required)
- Ability to teach intermediate to advanced students (strongly preferred)
- Typically 3–4 years of teaching experience for advanced-level instruction
- Strong piano proficiency and solid music theory foundation
- Proven ability to work effectively with children ages 7–13
- Comfortable teaching teens and adults
- Flexible teaching approach with the ability to tailor lessons to individual students
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Strong communication skills with students and parents
- Comfortable working within a structured academy environment
