What are the responsibilities and job description for the Restaurant Team Member position at SoBol?
Team Member - SoBol Sayville
Position Overview
SoBol Sayville is seeking enthusiastic team members to join our açai bowl and smoothie shop. Team members are responsible for delivering outstanding hospitality, preparing high-quality, superior products, and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment. This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail and product consistency.
Primary Responsibilities
Team members prepare açai bowls, smoothies, and other menu items according to SoBol recipes and quality standards. You'll operate point-of-sale systems, process transactions accurately, and handle cash responsibly. Customer interaction is central to this role—you'll greet guests, take orders, answer menu questions, and ensure each customer has a positive experience.
Maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the store is essential. This includes food preparation areas, customer spaces, equipment, and restrooms. You'll follow all food safety protocols, monitor product freshness and temperatures, and properly handle and store ingredients. Team members also assist with inventory management, receiving deliveries, and restocking supplies as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
Previous food service or retail experience is preferred but not required—we're willing to train motivated individuals. You should have strong communication skills and a genuine desire to provide excellent customer service. The ability to work efficiently during peak hours while maintaining quality is important, as is basic math proficiency for handling transactions.
Team members must be reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays, and varying shifts. You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, taking direction from management, and adapting to changing priorities throughout your shift.
Physical Requirements
This position requires standing for extended periods, typically 4-8 hours per shift. You'll need to lift and carry up to 30-40 pounds regularly (product deliveries, supplies, equipment). The role involves repetitive motions including scooping, blending, and reaching. You must be able to work in varying temperatures—near freezers and refrigeration units as well as in kitchen prep areas.
Work Environment
SoBol Sayville operates in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment. The atmosphere is team-oriented with peak periods during lunch hours, after school, and weekends. You'll work with commercial kitchen equipment including blenders, freezers, and food prep tools in a clean, health-focused setting.
