What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groundskeeper position at Soboba Casino?
The Groundskeeper is responsible to maintain the grounds of the property utilizing groundkeeper's hand tools and power tools as well as general maintenance and repair of facility areas, cleaning and safety of all guest and employee areas as well as parking lot, grounds and adjacent lots to include any off-property site used by the company. This position supports operations in ensuring use-ready and compliant facilities and utilities, including completion of preventive maintenance, and the completion of computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) related documentation.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Perform, as part of a team, a wide variety of tasks to maintain facility in a best in class for guest experience. Interface with customers, vendors, and team members in support of facility initiatives, work request completion, or other duties as assigned in a professional and team-oriented manner.
- Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment.
- Utilize positive communication and interpersonal skills with guests, (internal and external), at all times.
- Assist the Facilities department in the maintenance, repair, cleaning, and safety of all guest and employee areas, as well as, parking lot, grounds, and adjacent lots to include any off-property site used by the company.
- Perform a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, sprinkler installation, and installation of mortarless segmental concrete masonry wall units.
- Maintaining the property’s trees, shrubs and plant life.
- Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing and removing thatch, and trimming and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls.
- Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
- Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, and other grounds features.
- Keeps storage areas in a clean and acceptable condition.
- Sweep / remove litter around all Soboba Casino Resort property.
- Assist in resetting fence posts and to generally fix or repair items or signage which may have been damaged or knocked over by the public.
- Keep Supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
- Assist with requisitions, provides estimates/specifications for supplies and materials necessary to complete projects.
- Follow established safety rules, regulations, and maintain a safe, clean work environment.
- Must be physically present to work a regular, reliable, and predictable work schedule in accordance with business demands, and maintain a consistent and regular attendance record.
- Embodies Soboba Casino Resort’s cultural values and aligns daily actions with department goals.
- Perform special projects and other responsibilities, tasks, or duties as requested.
Education / Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High School diploma or equivalent, preferred.
- Associate of Arts or Certificate of Arts Degree in Landscape Architecture/Design or Horticulture from an accredited college or Trade school may be substituted for two years of related experience, required.
- Three (3) years of horticulture or landscape maintenance experience, required.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Any combination of education beyond the minimum requirement as well as any experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary will be considered.
- Ability to work as part of a team, and independently.
- Must be able to provide evidence of eligibility to work in the United States of America.
Certificates, licenses and registration
- Must possess a California Driver’s License and a clean driving record (less than 3 points).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Soboba Tribal Gaming Commission license.
- Required to submit to and obtain negative results on all drug and/or alcohol testing
