Drug Screen Collector

This position is part time, on call position, with no guarantee of hours

DEFINITION

With overall guidance, offers administrative assistance and executes tasks associated with the drug screening of clients; additionally, fulfills other relevant duties as needed. Please note, this position requires OBSERVED drug screen collection. All tests must be fully observed by the staff member administering the test.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Applicant should have a strong background in customer service and a basic understanding of medical or clinical procedures. While one year of experience in a clinical or medical setting is preferred, it is not mandatory.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE

Some positions may require possession of a valid driver’s license.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERSITICS

Individuals in this category carry out all drug screener responsibilities, encompassing the collection of urine and saliva samples, screening, and laboratory preparation for individuals mandated to undergo drug and/or alcohol testing at Sober Testing Services.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

Exercises no supervision.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (The following is used as a partial description and is not restrictive as to duties required.)

General Duties

Maintain proper chain of evidence over collections, check identifications, and orient new clients.

Perform office support duties as assigned including answering the telephone, receiving, preparing, and processing a variety of documents, forms, records, and reports; stocking supplies and cleaning work areas.

Receive payments for fees, charges, and prepare receipts, perform cashiering duties, reconcile correct amount, prepare balance statements.

Reply to request for information from partnering agencies.

Signing up new client for drug testing based on agency request and parameters.

Handle inquiries on the telephone and in person; answer questions and provide information where judgement knowledge and interpretations are called for; refer appropriate calls to Screener Supervisor as necessary.

Maintain confidential files and records related to drug testing results.

JOB RELATED AND ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Full Performance (These may be acquired on the job and are needed to perform the work assigned.)

Knowledge of:

Policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of Sober Testing Services.

Drug testing information systems and software programs used in the assigned area.

Best practices of proper chain of custody and drug testing preparation.

Ability to:

Witness urinalysis and saliva tests.

Remain polite, tactful, and diplomatic in stressful situations.

Maintain effective working relationships with Sober Testing Services staff and the public; work with difficult clients in emotionally charged situations.

Deal with clients with extensive criminal history to include violent crimes.

Maintain confidentiality of information – encountered in the course of work.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment.)

Ability to work in a standard office and courtroom environment with exposure to volatile situations. Will be required to obtain certification in Blood Borne Pathogens and any additional training as ordered by the Operations Manager or Managing Partner.

Selected candidate must complete and submit to a background check.
