We are currently seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the Club’s financial operations and support its commitment to excellence, accuracy, and strong financial stewardship.
Job Summary
The Controller plays a key role on the Club’s leadership team and is an active, visible presence in daily operations. This position oversees the Club’s accounting and financial activities while working closely with the General Manager, Department Heads, and staff to support smart spending decisions, cost control, and long-term financial health. Far more than a behind-the-scenes role, the Controller is member-facing, approachable, and highly collaborative — translating financial information into practical guidance that helps departments operate efficiently while delivering an outstanding member experience. A strong working knowledge of the costs associated with turf maintenance, retail merchandise, and food and beverage operations is essential to this role and allows the Controller to be a true financial partner to department leaders. In addition, the Controller plays a critical role in the onboarding of new members, assisting with membership documentation, coordinating the wiring of member initiation funds and annual dues, and establishing member accounts. This responsibility further reinforces the position’s importance as a trusted, member-facing resource and an integral part of the Club’s overall experience.

Maintain an on-site presence with an open-door approach to support managers, staff, and members.
Be an engaged, approachable, and professional member-facing leader within the Club.
Oversee accounting staff scheduling, training, and professional development.
Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment that promotes communication, accountability, and shared success across all departments.
Member Experience & Service
Serve as a visible, approachable, and trusted resource for Club members regarding financial matters.
Be readily available to assist members with questions related to monthly statements, annual dues, billing inquiries, membership accounts, and payment processes.
Communicate financial information clearly, accurately, and professionally in a manner that reflects the Club’s service standards.
Demonstrate strong emotional maturity and sound judgment when handling sensitive or complex member inquiries.
Provide efficient, thoughtful solutions that balance member satisfaction with financial accuracy and Club policies.
Work closely with the General Manager, Department Heads, and Executive Leadership to ensure a seamless and positive financial experience for members.
Budgeting, Purchasing & Cost Analysis
Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process in partnership with the General Manager and Department Heads.
Work closely with Department Heads on purchasing decisions, spending plans, and ongoing cost analysis.
Apply strong knowledge of turf maintenance expenses, food and beverage costs, and retail merchandise margins to help departments budget accurately and make informed purchasing decisions.
Analyze budget-to-actual results and assist managers in understanding variances, cost drivers, and opportunities to improve profitability.
Serve as a financial resource for Department Heads, offering practical guidance that supports both fiscal responsibility and operational needs.
Department-Specific Cost Expertise
Understand and analyze key cost components related to:
Turf maintenance, including labor, equipment, chemicals, irrigation, and seasonal planning.
Food and beverage operations, including food and beverage cost controls, labor ratios, inventory management, and waste reduction.
Retail merchandise, including purchasing strategies, pricing, margins, inventory turns, and shrink control.
Use this knowledge to proactively support Department Heads in planning, forecasting, and evaluating financial performance.
Internal Controls & Best Practices
Develop and maintain practical financial policies and procedures that support smooth and efficient operations.
Ensure internal controls are in place and functioning across accounting, payroll, revenue control, purchasing, and inventory.
Oversee receiving and storeroom controls to promote accountability and accurate reporting.
Inventory, Assets & Cash Management
Participate in and verify physical inventories of food, beverage, supplies, merchandise, equipment, and furnishings.
Manage cash flow for operating and payroll accounts.
Monitor member and employee accounts receivable and coordinate appropriate follow-up.
Maintain insurance records for all Club property and assets.
Financial Operations & Reporting
Oversee the Club’s day-to-day accounting and financial processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
Prepare monthly financial statements, including Income Statements and Balance Sheets, with clear supporting schedules.
Reconcile monthly ledgers including accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank accounts, asset accounts, and payroll.
Prepare and distribute financial reports for Ownership, Executive Members, and the Director of Operations.
Review operating results, identify trends, and collaborate with leadership to improve overall financial performance.
Tax & Compliance
Prepare and file all required Federal, State, and Local tax returns accurately and on time.
