Thank you for your interest in the Lifeguard position. We are pleased to inform you that we will be conducting an Aquatics Skills Evaluations on Thursday April 23rd , which is the first step before an interview! The Aquatics Skills Evaluation will be from 4pm to 6pm at the Soaring Eagle Waterpark & Hotel. You do not have to plan to be there the entire time, you just need to stop by in between 4pm and 6pm. The test itself takes about 20 minutes so we do ask that the latest you arrive is 5:40pm to ensure Swim Testing is done by 6pm. When you arrive to the Soaring Eagle Waterpark & Hotel, please notify the Front Desk that you are there for Aquatics Skills Evaluation and they will show you where to go from there. The Aquatics Skills Evaluation consists of three (3) different tasks in which all three (3) of them MUST be passed in order to be offered an interview:

Must be able to work in an indoor environment with wet conditions and extreme heat and humidity. May experience exposure to water and vaporized chemicals and blood-borne spills caused by illnesses or injuries.

- Treading in the water for two (2) minutes
- 300 meter swim

Position Summary

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding guest service while performing assigned duties, including training, interpreting and conveying information throughout the waterpark property.
- Ensure the safety of all guests within the waterpark.
- Respond to emergencies in a timely and safe manner.
- Must be able to deal with change and uncertainty and flexible enough to adapt and sensibly respond to situations at hand.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instruction, and procedure manuals. Ensure that all water rides are operated properly and that any unsafe conditions are reported to the Aquatics Manager or Lifeguard Supervisors.
- Comply with Red Cross and Soaring Eagle Waterpark standards.
- Attend pre-shift, weekly, and monthly meetings.
- Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Maintain a clean and safe waterpark.
- Assist in cleaning waterpark as assigned.
- Assist guests with tubes.
- Assist guests with lifejackets, as well as, pick up lifejackets that guests may leave on top of pool furniture, deck space, locker rooms, and throughout the waterpark. Lifejackets to be placed neatly on lifejacket stands.
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality in performing all aspects of assigned responsibilities.
- Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
The Lifeguard shall be measured on his/her ability to:
- Provide consistently high levels of guest service as defined and measured within the Resort’s guest service expectations and criteria.
- Speak loudly, clearly, and communicate all safety instruction to all guests.
- Effectively work as a team.
- Ensure that all safety rules are being followed at all times by guests as well as other employees.
- Ensure the safe operations of the assigned slide.
- Ensure the safety of all guests and employees.
- Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time in excess of 10 hours.
- Must be able to walk up and down stairs.
- Must be able to walk or stand for at least 100% of assigned shift.
- Must be able to swim 200 yards.
- Must be able to use hand signals and blow a whistle.
- Must be able to lift and maneuver at least 50 lbs.
- Bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing and pulling required throughout shift, including all in-services.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Minimum Qualifications:
- 16 years of age.
- Ability to pass Red Cross Swim Test: swim 300 yards, timed brick retrieval from the bottom of water 8ft deep, and tread water for 2 minutes without using hands.
- Complete Lifeguard Training provided by Red Cross and taught by Red Cross Instructors at Soaring Eagle Waterpark & Hotel or obtained a Red Cross Certification at another facility.
- Obtain and maintain CPR certification through Red Cross.
- Maintain current license and pass required training to remain in position.
