- Performs preventative maintenance according to specifications.
- Repairs small engine and/or diesel engines used to power lawn mowers, string trimmers, backpack blowers, and similar equipment using appropriate tools.
- Locates causes of trouble using appropriate tools and examines parts for defects or excessive wear using precision measuring instruments.
- Repairs or replaces defective parts, including carburetors, distributors, spark plugs, magnetos, etc.
- Cleans and adjusts parts using hand tools.
- Sets clearances using feeler gauges.
- Orders parts, advises Project Manager on recommended spare parts, and ensures availability when needed.
- Orders parts and re-taps parts to obtain specified clearances using grinders, taps, reamers, and boring machines.
- High school diploma or equivalent, along with experience in engine or small engine repair.
- Must have at least two years of experience and a basic understanding of small engines.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of all aspects of small engine repair and maintenance.
- Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
- Ability to operate and control small electric and gas-powered equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform repairs, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control analysis.
- Thorough knowledge of all tools used for these repairs (electric, pneumatic, etc.).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Valid Virginia driver's license.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to learn new skills and adapt based on latest technology.
- Ability to pass background check.
