Position Overview:
The COTA will work under the direction of the school-based Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality therapy services to students, support IEP development and implementation, and collaborate with teachers, parents, and the educational team.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide occupational therapy services to students, including individualized treatment plans.
Assist in the preparation and documentation of IEPs, progress notes, and session data.
Collaborate with the OT, teachers, and multidisciplinary team to support student goals.
Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administrators regarding student progress.
Participate in IEP meetings and team discussions.
Implement sensory, fine motor, and functional skills interventions appropriate for school-aged children.
Qualifications:
Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in California.
Minimum of 1 year of pediatric experience preferred.
Strong understanding of school-based occupational therapy practices and IEP processes.
Ability to adapt to diverse student needs and flexible scheduling.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Experience with IEP prep sheets, treatment implementation, and parent communication.
Passion for working with children and fostering student success.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in charter school or educational settings.
Knowledge of sensory integration and evidence-based pediatric interventions.
Experience with Learning disability, Autism, behavioral issues, etc.
