Job description
So Cal Ship Services is looking for highly motivated individuals who wish to begin their career as a professional mariner in one of our entry level "Boomer" positions. Personnel assigned to this position’s work include but are not limited to General Labor, Yard Hand, Deckhand, Skiff Operator, and emergency oil spill response. Experience in the Marine Industry is not required but applicants must be comfortable around water and on small boats. Entry level applicants are encouraged to apply. We train on-site.
Personnel in our "Booming" positions have flexible schedules and options that are determined by the availability of the employee. Well suited for applicants looking to pick up work between classes, beyond the standard 9 to 5 workday, and on weekends or Holidays. Employee training will be focused on developing small skiff operating skills and familiarity with Los Angeles and Long Beach Harbor. As full-time positions become available, our "off-schedule" employees who have shown an interest in our industry, have advanced in their position, and have proven to be a reliable asset are given an opportunity to fill those roles.
Candidates must have the ability to:

Employees are regularly required to:
1. Lift.
2. Bend, stoop, and carry.
3. Lift up moderate to heavy equipment.
4. Work inside and outside in all kinds of weather.
Additional Job Details
1. Must 18 years of age or older
2. Must be willing to take part in our USCG required, random drug testing program. * Candidates MUST be able to pass a pre-hire drug test.
3. Must have or be eligible to get a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Card)
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.28 - $25.00 per hour
