Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Train Conductor to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will oversee the safe operation of train movements, coordinate with crew members, and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Your energetic approach will help maintain smooth rail operations while prioritizing safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate train movements, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and operational procedures
- Communicate clearly with locomotive engineers, yard personnel, and dispatchers to facilitate smooth operations
- Conduct safety inspections of train equipment and railcars before departure and upon arrival
- Monitor track conditions, signals, and switching operations to prevent accidents or delays
- Assist with coupling and uncoupling railcars as needed during switching procedures
- Maintain accurate logs of train movements, safety checks, and operational reports
- Respond promptly to any incidents or emergencies on or around the rail yard
Requirements
- Military experience or background is highly valued for discipline and operational skills
- Knowledge of air brake systems used in train operations is essential
- Mechanical knowledge related to railcars, locomotives, and heavy equipment operation is preferred
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently within a rail yard environment
- Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and dispatchers
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, climb, and perform manual tasks in various weather conditions
- Valid certification or licensing related to rail operations is a plus
