What are the responsibilities and job description for the Road Laborer position at Snyder Township Supervisors?
- Maintain general knowledge of all applicable rules and regulations, and the ability to follow and apply work instructions as directed.
- Maintain knowledge of the proper operating procedures and safety practices associated with trucks and construction equipment.
- Maintain knowledge of state laws pertaining to the operation of motor vehicles.
- Ability to reason, solve problems and provide oral and written communication with Township personnel, residents, contractors, vendors, etc.
- Ability to assume responsibilities.
- Be responsible for the safety of others.
- Present a good public image of the Township.
- Ability to take both oral and written instructions and respond to such.
- Manual labor on Township construction and maintenance projects.
- Operate various heavy equipment, i.e., dump truck with plow, spreader, backhoe, grader, mower, and numerous types of hand and power tools.
- Perform maintenance duties on Township vehicles and equipment such as washing and cleaning, oil change and lubrication, and minor repairs.
- Load and unload materials and tools from trucks and other heaving equipment.
- Grade/regrade gravel roads.
- Dig drainage ditches, clean out culverts, fill in washouts.
- Patch road surfaces by cleaning potholes or surface cracks, applying patching material, leveling and compacting.
- Plow snow and spread salt and anti-skid.
- Direct traffic and perform duties of a flagman in work zone areas.
- Cut grass, brush, trees and branches by using hand and power tools.
- Erect and repair road signs.
- Sweep roads/intersections of accumulated gravel and debris.
- Keep vehicle maintenance records.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of Township facilities and property.
- Notify Roadmaster of observations of Township needs (i.e., signs, roads).
- Notify the Roadmaster or Road Foreman immediately pertaining to any type of accident or work injury and complete appropriate documents.
25. Maintain valid CDL Class A or B with Air Brake endorsement.
26. Maintain all certifications needed to perform duties (i.e., flagger certification).
- Perform any other tasks or duties deemed necessary or appropriate by the Roadmaster and/or Board of Supervisors.
- Follow Federal (OSHA), state regulations and Township policies regarding safety training and safe work practices.
- Available to respond quickly to emergency situations, on call 24/7.
- Ability to work under stress.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Must maintain regular attendance in order to ensure continuity of operations.

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
