Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, air brakes, suspension, and HVAC systems using schematics and diagnostic tools.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, trailers, and construction machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently by analyzing mechanical problems through automotive diagnostics and electrical diagnostics procedures.
- Service and repair farm machinery, industrial equipment, heavy construction machinery, and other specialized vehicles with attention to detail and safety standards.
- Perform tire service, brake repairs, alignment adjustments, suspension work, and general assembly tasks to keep equipment operating at peak condition.
- Maintain detailed service records including shift reports, incident logs, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation for accountability and compliance.
Skills
- Proven dealership experience or extensive background in heavy equipment mechanics with a focus on construction machinery maintenance.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, HVAC systems, and air brakes.
- Skilled in using schematics for troubleshooting complex electrical or mechanical issues; proficient with diagnostic software tools.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; capable of using various hand tools and power tools safely.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while handling tires or large components; excellent heavy equipment operation skills.
- Knowledge of OEM parts specifications for vehicle maintenance; familiarity with Caterpillar or similar brands is advantageous.
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to team members or clients.
