Job Title: Project Manager 

Job Purpose and Position Overview: Snow & Company is seeking a skilled and motivated Project Manager to join our dynamic shipbuilding team. This position has full authority and responsibility for project profits and losses and manages all aspects of assigned ship repair projects. The individual provides primary customer interface throughout the project. Through project team members, manages the application of labor and materials to achieve timely, better-than-bid results and assure customer satisfaction. 

As part of a fast-paced, deadline-driven team, you must thrive under pressure while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be highly creative and possess excellent time management skills, take pride in delivering exceptional work, and consistently demonstrate reliability and a strong work ethic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plans, estimates, negotiates, staffs, directs the work, and reconciles final billings on assigned projects. As the top decision maker on the project, resolves any internal issues that arise over the productive, safe management of the project.
  • Coordinates internal resources and third parties/vendors for the successful execution of projects
  • Writes timely and accurate documentation of each job and contributes accordingly to final specifications. 
  • Meets or exceeds customers' realistic expectations for quality, productivity, and safety on projects, and manages the customer relationship through any changes in the scope and price of the project to assure continuing customer satisfaction and profitable project closure. 
  • Track the process of identifying materials required and coordinates with the purchasing team to ensure items are purchased
  • Collaborates and communicates with others to resolve challenges to ensure a successful result
  • Resolves issues on a day-to-day basis with customers, owners, and other interested parties.  Represents the Company fairly and consistently when interacting with customers.
  • Interprets specifications, plans project sequencing, and coordinates the various phases of the project to prevent delays and avoid rework.  Ensures that change order requests and CFRs are properly written and approves them before providing them to the Project Management team.
  • Confers with supervision and project management staff, and project inspectors and suppliers of materials, to resolve repair problems and to improve repair methods
  • Prepares periodic management reports on work progress, materials used and costs and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports. Ensures adherence to the work process.
  • Arranges sea trials and documentation of sea trial reports
  • Preforms final inspection of completed boat to ensure all open Quality Assurance (QA) discrepancies and any other known defects are addressed and repaired
  • Coordinates and ensures smooth hand off post-delivery

  • Must be extremely organized with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent contract, specification and print interpretation skills.
  • Strong leadership skills including conflict resolution, real-time decision-making, high performance expectations and the capability of inspiring the team to meet them.
  • Demonstrated financial savvy as it applies to labor-intensive projects.
  • Excellent communication skills internally and directly with customers
  • Strong entrepreneurial outlook with a clearly demonstrated sense of ownership over both the process and the results.
  • Demonstrated hands-on approach to problem-solving and knowing the project.

Required Education/Experience:

A minimum of 5 years of Marine project management experience is required.  

 

Physical Requirements: 

The work environment is a dynamic, fast-paced shipyard with moderate to loud noise levels due to ongoing production activities. Job duties are performed in an office setting as well as in production areas and onboard vessels and may require:

  • Ability to work in shipyard production areas and onboard vessels.
  • Ability to walk to and from job sites and climb inclined stairways
  • Availability for shifts longer than 8 hours and/or weekend work if needed.
  • Frequent activities including walking, standing, sitting, using hands and arms, reaching, talking & hearing. 
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 lbs. 

Pay and Benefits:

  • $90,000 - $110,000 / annually
  • Full time, overtime exempt position
