Deli Clerk (full-time and part-time)

We are seeking friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Deli Clerks to join our team. The Deli Clerk helps prepare, package, stock, and maintain fresh deli foods while providing excellent customer service to our community of owners and shoppers. This position plays an important role in creating a welcoming shopping experience and ensuring our deli department meets high standards for food quality, cleanliness, and safety. We are hiring one part-time and one full-time position.

Position Summary

Sno-Isle Food Co-op is seeking a friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Part-Time Deli Clerk to join our team. The Deli Clerk helps prepare, package, stock, and maintain fresh deli foods while providing excellent customer service to our community of owners and shoppers. This position plays an important role in creating a welcoming shopping experience and ensuring our deli department meets high standards for food quality, cleanliness, and safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and helpful customer service at all times.
• Prepare, package, label, and stock deli items according to established procedures.
• Maintain attractive and well-stocked deli displays.
• Serve customers at the deli counter and answer questions about products and ingredients.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and health department requirements.
• Monitor product freshness and rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, and service counters.
• Assist with receiving deliveries and stocking inventory as needed.
• Operate scales, slicers, and other deli equipment safely and effectively.
• Support other store departments when needed.
• Contribute to a positive, cooperative, and respectful work environment.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience preferred.
• Food service, deli, grocery, or restaurant experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Commitment to providing excellent service and supporting cooperative values.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to work in refrigerated and food preparation environments.

Schedule

• Part-time position averaging 16-24 hours per week.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
