What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Receptionist position at Snip Happens?
Are you a people-person who loves animals and thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment? Our growing veterinary clinic is looking for a compassionate and professional Veterinary Receptionist to be the welcoming face of our front desk.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating a warm and reassuring experience for pet caretakers, all while juggling the organizational and technological tasks that keep our clinic running smoothly.
What You’ll Do:
As the first point of contact for our clients, you'll play a key role in delivering exceptional service and supporting our veterinary team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Warmly greeting clients and their pets with kindness and professionalism.
- Answering phones promptly and knowledgeably, addressing questions or routing inquiries appropriately.
- Scheduling appointments and managing the clinic calendar with precision and efficiency.
- Maintaining accurate digital records, updating patient and client information as needed.
- Processing payments, handling invoices, and assisting with medical collections in line with clinic policies.
- Coordinating check-ins and check-outs, helping clients feel supported throughout their visit.
- Supporting staff with administrative tasks and occasionally assisting with basic animal handling, including holding dogs or helping with minor procedures.
- Keeping the reception and waiting area tidy, welcoming, and well-organized.
What We’re Looking For:
- A friendly and empathetic communicator who truly enjoys helping people.
- Tech-savvy and comfortable using veterinary software, digital calendars, email, and payment systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a busy clinic setting.
- Prior experience in a veterinary, medical, or customer-facing role is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology, common procedures, or animal handling is a plus (but not required—we’re happy to train the right person!).
- Comfortable working around animals of all sizes and temperaments with calm and compassionate energy.
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Experience in veterinary or medical reception.
- Knowledge of laboratory processes or critical care protocols.
- A background in pet care or small animal handling.
- Confidence assisting in high-volume environments.
Why Join Us?
You'll be part of a passionate team that works hard every day to make a difference for pets and their people. If you're someone who can balance compassion with efficiency—and you have the tech skills to keep up with a busy front desk—we’d love to hear from you.
