Responsibilities
- Diagnose transmission issues using automotive diagnostics tools and schematics to identify mechanical or electrical faults.
- Repair and rebuild transmissions, including manual and automatic types, ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and mechanical knowledge to disassemble, repair, and reassemble transmission components.
- Follow manufacturer specifications and schematics for complex mechanical systems repair while adhering to safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair needs and provide excellent customer service throughout the service process.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in the automotive repair industry with a focus on transmissions or heavy equipment mechanics.
- Dealership experience is highly preferred; familiarity with GM vehicles is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems, powertrain components, suspension systems, and mechanical repairs.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and using diagnostic tools for automotive diagnostics.
- Hands-on experience with diesel engine repair, oil changes, wheel alignments, shocks & struts, brake repair, and tire service.
- Ability to work efficiently with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other mechanical repair tools.
- Excellent mechanical knowledge complemented by strong customer service skills.
- Certifications related to automotive repair such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) are advantageous but not mandatory.
