The ideal candidate will play a key role in validating physical inventory, reconciling discrepancies, and ensuring the CMDB system (Device42) is fully accurate. This position directly supports modernization, consolidation, and future capacity planning efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and document all hardware assets (active, inactive, and decommissioned) to reconcile discrepancies between physical inventory and system records
- Validate and update CMDB (Device42) to ensure it serves as the authoritative system of record
- Partner daily with project leadership to align inventory efforts with modernization priorities and timelines
- Perform detailed rack-by-rack audits and update rack elevation diagrams using Microsoft Visio
- Document rack utilization, including used vs. available rack units, to establish accurate capacity baselines
- Maintain and update data center floor space diagrams
- Collect and validate power consumption data from Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
- Establish manual tracking processes for power utilization and capacity forecasting
- Collaborate with engineering teams to document cooling and power infrastructure specifications
- Support hands-on data center tasks including installation, decommissioning, and cabling
- Follow all change management, safety, and operational procedures
- Assist with decommissioning and disposal of outdated or unused equipment
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field
Certifications:
- Active Secret Clearance (required)
- CompTIA Security CE
Experience:
- 5 years of experience in data center operations, IT infrastructure, or configuration management
- Experience supporting government or DoD data center environments (e.g., DoD, DISA)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge:
- DoD asset management policies and lifecycle procedures
- Data center hardware and infrastructure (servers, networking, peripherals)
Skills:
- Strong inventory management and tracking capabilities
- Excellent documentation and reporting skills for audit and compliance readiness

- Ability to identify discrepancies and maintain accurate records
