Military Fellowship Program: Systems Engineer

SNC's Military Fellowship Program partners with programs such as SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes to provide fellowship opportunities to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. These fellowships include up to six months of on-the-job industry training for eligible service members. During this time, participants gain valuable work experience in the civilian sector and build professional networks as they prepare for their transition to full-time civilian work. NOTE: You must be currently serving on active duty to be eligible for this fellowship program. This program is not for veterans who have already separated from the military. As a Systems Engineer, you will be using your skills and expertise to research, architect, model, simulate, test, certify and improve cutting edge products and services. You'll be developing complex system architectures within contextual modeling platforms, ushering them from operational concept through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and test using progressive tools. As a cross-functional engineer, you are in charge of system-level ownership of new products and processes through the product lifecycle. The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Qualifications You Must Have: Currently serving as active duty military and be eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 2 or more years of relevant experience Higher education may substitute for relevant experience Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams Knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles Qualifications We Prefer: Experience with requirements management and system modelling tools, such as DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, MATLAB Knowledge of industry standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to requirements management, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) Experience or certification in INCOSE standards Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry Exposure to baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of high impact trade studies and other measures Understanding of establishing and tracking key Technical Performance Measurements (TPM) At SNC we deliver customer-focused technology and best-of-breed integrations in the aerospace and defense sectors. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
