Night Shift Mill Operator

Overview
The Mill Operator is a critical team member of the SMI family in ensuring the operation of the flour milling process and cleanliness of the mill buildings and premises. This night-shift position will consist of 12-hour work day, four days per week.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Operate two flour mills: Understand mill flow and milling process; Inspect and troubleshoot end-product for quality attributes
- Cleaning: Clean equipment, machinery, and workspaces; Maintain cleanliness of all areas of the facility, both interior and exterior; Collect and dispose of waste routinely
- Maintenance: Routinely inspect equipment, machinery and workstations; Ensure adequate grease and oil levels of equipment; Perform magnet checks to ensure operability; Assist in stopping, starting and monitoring equipment or machinery and clearing jams or removing damaged material
- Shipping, Receiving and Packaging Responsibilities: Assist in loading bagged and/or bulk finished product trailers; Assist with operating the flour bagging machine
- Documentation: Complete various documents to meet record-keeping requirements including cleaning, maintenance, and production documentation; Ensure compliance with Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs)
- Support: Uphold food safety requirements; Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement of operations; Ensure adherence to company policies, standard operating procedures and and OSHA procedures
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to perform duties in an independent manner with minimal direction and supervision
- Ability to lift up to, and in excess of, 50 pounds consistently
- Ability to work in environmental factors that include noise, dust, hot and cold weather
- Ability to accommodate stairs, ladders, heights in excess of 80 feet, working overhead, bending, stooping and kneeling
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with company employees
- Ability to operate forklift and pallet jack after on-site training
- Organizational skills with the ability to provide accurate information consistently
- Other duties as assigned that are or may be necessary to fulfill the overall purpose of the job and/or meet company needs
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
