Our team is passionate, hardworking, and committed to providing the highest level of care for every dog that comes through our doors. We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and compassionate Shelter Kennel Manager to join our team and help lead daily operations on-site.

Position Overview:

The Shelter Kennel Manager will oversee the care, safety, and well-being of all dogs housed at our facility. This individual will work closely with the adoption team, veterinary team, and trainer to ensure that each animal’s medical, behavioral, and social needs are met. Strong leadership skills, a proactive attitude, and a willingness to learn and adapt are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

*Manage daily kennel operations and ensure all dogs receive proper care, including feeding, cleaning, enrichment, and medical attention. *Oversee and support kennel staff, providing leadership, training, scheduling, and performance feedback. *Work onsite full-time, including regular weekend shifts. *Administer vaccines and microchips (training provided if needed). *Collaborate with the adoption team to assist in the matchmaking and adoption process. *Work closely with the trainer to ensure behavior plans are consistently and effectively implemented. *Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kennel and common areas according to shelter standards. *Assist with intake and assessments of new dogs entering the shelter. *Communicate with management regarding medical or behavioral concerns. *Monitor and update records to ensure accuracy in the shelter database.

Requirements:

*Prior leadership experience in a kennel, shelter, or similar animal care setting is required. *Strong animal handling skills, including comfort working with dogs of all sizes, breeds, and behavior levels. *Willingness and ability to learn how to vaccinate and microchip animals. *Availability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings as needed. *Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills. *Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. *Commitment to compassionate, humane animal care and positive reinforcement handling methods. *Must be able to lift 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

*Experience administering vaccines and microchipping (preferred but not required). *Familiarity with shelter management software (such as PetPoint, Shelterluv, or similar) a plus. *Certification in animal behavior or dog training is a bonus.

Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $21.00 - $24.00/hour.
