Title: Product Designer

Definition of Success:

Reliable and collaborative asset for innovative concepts and ideation with strong understanding of storytelling and what makes a product successful from a collector’s point of view. Fluent in many forms of digital art from 2D to 3D. Strong creative problem-solving skills when it comes to product.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

·Research

1.     Research market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor products to generate new product ideas for various product types and studio properties.

2.     Stay up to date on industry trends and advances in technology and materials to apply to designs and concepts

 

·Concept Design

1.     Design and develop new promotional and collectible consumer products from concept through production.

2.     Creating 2D and 3D sketches / illustrations for hardgoods and plush. (various styling ranging from realistic to caricature)

3.     Visualize and present designs to internal stakeholders and clients.


·Product Refinement and Development

1.     Select materials, components, and production methods based on product specifications and manufacturing limitations.

2.     Work with project managers, factory partners, and clients to refine designs and ensure that products can be manufactured within budget and schedule constraints.

3.     Prepare detailed design direction to factory partners. Experience with PDF creation a plus.

4.     Inspect and comment on 3D sculpts, physical prototypes, and pre-production samples using Pantone books, Factory images and OBJs from studio or factory. 

5.     Collaborate with marketing, sales, and other teams to develop product packaging and Sewn in Labels.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

·       Creative Out of the Box Problem-solving

·       Attention to detail

·       Exceptional creativity, innovation, and design skills

·       Excellent communication and presentation skills

·       Organizational and time-management skills for meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment

·       Ability to collaborate and adjust creative style to meet various client and licensor needs

·       Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials

·       Expert level Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator

·       Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines

·       Bachelor’s degree in toy design, art, or related field

·       Understanding of apparel, accessories or other softlines design

(Experience with 3D design software is a plus)

 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

·       Passion and appreciation for pop culture, collectors welcome!

·       Experience with licensed characters and product

·       Familiarity with toy and food safety standards

Our Benefits:

·       Compensation: The annual base salary for this position is $70k-$80k and will be determined based on candidate’s work skills and experience.
