The Finishing Operator Assistant is responsible for packaging finished goods and preparing them for shipment. This is an entry level position with growth potential!
Salary Range: $19.00 - $21.00/hourly
Compensation will be based on the skills and experiences you bring to Smyth.
Be Available for either of these Shifts: Monday - Thursday, 6:00am - 4:05pm or Sunday – Wednesday, 6:00am – 4:05pm

Key Responsibilities include:
- Ensure the correct product is packaged and labeled according to customer specifications/work orders; verify orders for accuracy and completeness for shipping. This involves using scanning equipment accurately.
- Maintain supply of packaging materials at tables and accurate inventory and packaging information
- Assist with reading and understanding finishing orders before production/packaging as well as set up and operation of finishing machines
- Inspect labels for imperfections; notify of any defective labels
- Understand and follow all departmental procedures
- Maintain good housekeeping
- Participate in cross-training with an open and positive attitude
The candidate must demonstrate:
- Effective time management skills to meet deadlines on multiple long- and short-term projects
- Clear communication, respectful attitude, and collaboration skills to effectively work as a team player with a diverse group of people and personalities
- Ability to provide high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries of internal customers
- Availability to work overtime as needed
Education, Skills and Experience:
- Required: High School degree or equivalent
- Required: Ability to perform heavy work; lifting up to 50lbs, with frequent carrying/lifting of items weighing up to 25lbs; pushing/pulling as required
- Required: Must be able to walk, sit, or stand for extended periods of time based on duty being performed
- Required: Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in the English language
- Preferred: Manufacturing, print industry experience
- A Plus: Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and ISO quality systems
