INK TECHNICIAN - FLEXO / COLOR MATCHING

Schedule: 3 days/week • 12.25-hour shifts

Overtime: Paid after 40 hrs/week; at least one OT shift available per month

About the Role

As an Ink Technician at Smyth’s Minneapolis facility, you will mix, blend, and color-match flexographic inks that bring labels and packaging to life for nationally recognized brands. If you have a background in chemical inks and a sharp eye for color, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

• Blend, mix, and color-match chemical-based flexographic inks
• Perform press-side color matching and operate color computer
• Coordinate press job set-ups and authorize jobs for color sign-off
• Organize and return inks before and after press runs
• Clean anilox rolls using Flexo Wash equipment and store properly
• Maintain inventory control and monitor hazardous waste areas

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
• Basic math skills; ability to use a tape measure and convert measurements
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with chemical inks and flexographic printing
• Color matching skills and knowledge of inks and films
• Familiarity with IMS and X-Rite Spectrophotometer software
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or ISO quality systems
• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Basic computer proficiency
