SMX Services & Consulting is seeking a highly qualified Project Manager with extensive experience managing electronic security system projects for federal, courthouse, judicial, law enforcement, or comparable secure facilities.
The Project Manager will support electronic security consulting services for a U.S. Government courthouse security system initiative. The work will focus on supporting procurement and design-phase activities for electronic security systems at courthouse locations in Hartford, Connecticut, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Project Manager will coordinate with government stakeholders, technical teams, design professionals, and security contractors to support scope development, design review, procurement support, and contractor onboarding.
This is a primarily remote role; however, the selected candidate must be available for on-site meetings, site visits, design reviews, and stakeholder coordination activities in Washington, D.C.; Atlanta, Georgia; Hartford, Connecticut; and Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Project Manager will be responsible for managing and supporting electronic security system consulting activities, including:

Lead project coordination for electronic security system consulting services supporting federal courthouse environments.

Support development and refinement of project scope for new electronic security systems.

Review project requirements related to access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, duress alarms, intercom systems, emergency communication systems, alarm monitoring, and related security infrastructure.

Coordinate with government stakeholders to confirm scope, priorities, assumptions, constraints, and technical requirements.

Support review of design and construction documents at multiple design milestones, including 60%, 75%, and 90% review stages.

Provide technical review comments, recommendations, and quality assurance feedback on electronic security system designs.

Support Independent Government Cost Estimate review and validation activities.

Assist the Government during procurement by supporting technical questions, proposal review, and evaluation of security contractor submissions.

Support onboarding of the selected electronic security system contractor.

Coordinate kickoff activities, technical expectations, submittal requirements, documentation requirements, and project transition activities.

Track action items, risks, schedule issues, and technical decisions across the project lifecycle.

Support review of submittals, technical documentation, commissioning plans, testing documentation, closeout records, and related project materials as required.

Maintain professional communication with federal stakeholders, design teams, construction/security contractors, and internal project leadership.

Ensure assigned work is performed in a manner consistent with federal facility security expectations and sensitive project documentation handling requirements.

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Minimum of 10 years of experience managing electronic security system projects.

Demonstrated experience managing projects involving design, installation, integration, testing, commissioning, and closeout of electronic security systems.

Experience managing at least three projects of similar size, scope, and complexity within the past five years.

At least two recent projects must have been performed in a federal facility, courthouse, judicial facility, law enforcement facility, or comparable secure environment.

Prior experience supporting U.S. Marshals Service, GSA, federal courthouse, judicial, or law enforcement facility security projects.

Experience with courthouse or high-security occupied facility environments.

Experience reviewing design packages at 60%, 75%, and 90% design milestones.

Experience supporting government procurement, technical evaluations, or source selection activities.

Experience validating or reviewing Independent Government Cost Estimates.

Experience with security contractor onboarding, commissioning documentation, acceptance testing, and closeout documentation.

Professional certifications such as PMP, PSP, CPP, RCDD, or manufacturer certifications related to major electronic security platforms are preferred but not required unless actually held.

Candidate may be required to complete background checks, badging, or other access procedures based on government requirements.
