Maintenance Supervisor – Spanish Fork, UT
The Opportunity:
The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee maintenance operations using precision and preventative maintenance to maximize plant and production equipment uptime. In this role, you will be a servant leader impacting the development of craftsmen by providing coaching to ensure adherence to preferred maintenance practices to maximize efficiency and safety.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock
- Assist and provide direction to craftsmen of troubleshooting equipment to mitigate downtime
- Monitor and approve inventory orders to control storeroom spend according to planned budget
- Ensure compliance and proper use of parts and equipment according to preferred maintenance practices
- Oversee craftsmen’s compliance with corporate, division, plant safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Lead development and implementation of continuous process improvement of reliability plans in the plant
- Demonstrate ownership of business and management goals by effectively leading craftsmen to align objectives
- Lead safety efforts by identifying high-risk situations, conducting safety meetings, and coordinating maintenance related safety activities
- Provide leadership and coaching in safety, training, and work allocation to uphold the standards of maximum safety for all maintenance employees
- Collaborate with operations and mechanical leaders to plan, schedule and execute daily and break-in work and to increase measured reliability metrics
What you need to succeed:
- 2-year technical degree in a Maintenance related discipline or related work experience – Required.
- 3 years of maintenance supervisory leadership experience within the packaging industry-Required.
- 3 years of Mechanical or Electrical maintenance experience – Required.
- Working knowledge of maintenance techniques and equipment (i.e. pumps, valves, motors, gear boxes); strong proficiency with PLCs, servos, and automation alongside standard mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
- Safety mindset with thorough understanding of safety policies and procedures
- Initiative to solve problems and take independent action.
- Great communication with the ability to adjust communication style and interact across all levels of the organization; active listener, essential when receiving operator feedback and diagnosing issues before they lead to machine failure
- Able to exhibit a ‘can-do’ approach and inspire others to excel; lead by example
- Must be organized with great time management to manage multiple priorities
- Elevated troubleshooting skills to diagnose complex machine malfunctions under pressure
