The Opportunity
This position is responsible for the oversight and performance of the Maintenance Planning Team at the Mahrt paper mill in Cottonton, AL
How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock
- Responsible for the management of all maintenance planners in support of the Mahrt Mill
- Provide leadership to the organization in support of equipment and process reliability
- Support and drive accident prevention and environmental excellence
- Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in a safe and environmentally sound manner while adhering to all company policies and procedures
- Participate in and promote continuous improvement
- Provides direction and focus in optimizing SAP and fully utilizing system capabilities
- Drives work management process for the mill
- Develop and train mill employees on work management process
- Develop and review work management KPIs to drive efficiency and effectiveness of the maintenance work force
- Develop and maintain planning calendar for outages and shutdowns
- Ensure utilization of MS project software to build timelines for outages and shutdowns and track progress versus the schedule
- Lead daily review meetings during plant scheduled shutdowns
- Ensure Bill of Materials and functional locations are established for all equipment
- Ensure daily and weekly schedules are developed and published in a timely manner
- Ensures resource scheduling to 120% capacity
- Increase utilization of standard job plans and task lists saved to SAP
- Spare parts review and setup to stores stock
- Ensure QA/QC activities are planned into the work schedule
- Ownership of unscheduled maintenance downtime, including participation from planning team on root cause failure analysis, and developing solutions
- Coordination with project engineering to ensure correct spare parts are stocked, drawings are updated, as well as all pertinent data is entered into SAP
- Ensure equipment deficiencies noted in inspection reports are planned and repairs completed
- Major contributor to cost budgeting and forecasting process
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in operations, engineering, or maintenance in a large manufacturing facility, with supervisor or management level experience
- Must possess strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem solving and decision-making skills
- 5 years of maintenance planning experience in pulp and paper manufacturing is preferred
