The Opportunity

This role is responsible for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting die cutting equipment to produce high-quality products that meet customer specifications. The position plays a critical role in ensuring production efficiency, product quality, and equipment performance while supporting continuous improvement and safe manufacturing practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate flatbed die cutting equipment according to job specifications.
• Review job tickets and production documentation to determine setup requirements.
• Monitor machine operation and make adjustments to maintain production quality and efficiency.
• Perform make-readies, routine adjustments, and troubleshooting throughout production runs.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly machine maintenance and preventative maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
• Inspect products for quality and identify packaging defects.
• Remove and replace damaged materials using hand tools as needed.
• Train team members on machine setup, operation, and safe work practices.
• Coordinate with production teams to support operational efficiency and workflow.
• Follow all standard operating procedures, work instructions, safety requirements, and environmental guidelines.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  
  

What You Need To Succeed

• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating flatbed die cutters with board stock and paper.
• Knowledge of Bobst die cutting equipment preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude demonstrated through experience or the ability to pass a mechanical assessment.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Basic computer skills and data entry experience.
• Ability to perform basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to use rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other inspection equipment.
• Ability to pass color vision and color hue tests.
• Knowledge of die cutting processes, including:
• Pre-make ready tables
• Nicking processes
• Spotting sheets
• Stripping boards
• Counter plates and register pins
• Matrix, spotting tape, underlaying, and blind make-readies
• Tonnage adjustments and cube/manual tonnage operation
• Die repair, including modifying cutting knives and creasing rules
• Recognition of common packaging defects such as cracking, tearing, pressure marks, scoring issues, loose fibers, and line-up defects
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Willingness to work overtime, including during peak production periods.
