Set up and operate a guillotine cutter to meet customer specifications while ensuring high-quality production standards. This role is responsible for accurately cutting inserts to required measurements for downstream production processes. A typical day includes preparing materials, programming cutting equipment, performing quality inspections, maintaining machinery, and collaborating with production teams to meet deadlines and efficiency goals.

How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock
- Set up and operate guillotine cutting equipment to precise specifications.
- Read and interpret job tickets and customer requirements to ensure accuracy.
- Perform quality checks and inspections to maintain product standards.
- Program cutting machinery to align with job specifications.
- Maintain equipment through routine weekly and monthly maintenance.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform necessary adjustments.
- Operate supporting equipment such as paper joggers and lifters.
- Prepare materials including trays, shippers, and box labels as needed.
- Collaborate with operators, pressmen, and leadership to meet production goals.
- Follow SOPs, safety policies, and operational procedures.
- Contribute to team success through training, problem-solving, and leadership.
- Support quality investigations and continuous improvement efforts.
- Cross-train in other production areas as needed.
- 2–3 years of related experience or training preferred.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude or ability to pass mechanical testing.
- Knowledge of machine control panels, air systems, and back gauge operation.
- Ability to pass ruler and line clearance tests.
- Strong math skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret complex instructions and documents in English.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to maintain reliable attendance and work overtime as needed.
