The Opportunity:
Our supervisors are responsible for keeping our facility running safely, smoothly, and efficiently. This role is responsible for managing the safety of everyone as well as the manufacturing process that can interface with other departments to troubleshoot operational and quality issues.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:
- Be an active participant in the safety program and always promote involvement from crew members driving safe work behaviors
- Responsible for production and quality results on your shift.
- Lead, train, and develop each member of your qualified crew, and ensure that departmental training material is up to date
- Responsible for the maintenance of the coating machine on your shift (managing daily and emergency break-in work), routinely reviewing all equipment, processes, and housekeeping in your area
- Immediate reporting of any environmental issues or violations
- Become an impactful problem solver in helping to determine the root causes of customer problems
- Work with the safety department to conduct root cause analysis on safety and equipment to help not only our department but the organization
What you need to succeed:
- Eight to ten years of production operations experience preferred, bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred, supervisory experience preferred
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills
- Ability to engage and coach crew members on more efficient operating techniques and new technology and equipment
- Analytical and diagnostic problem-solving skills, High level of energy and strong team player
- Flexibility to work rotating 12-hour shifts and extra days when needed
Additional Job Duties
- Train employees in proper PPE and use, and conduct proper LOTO
- Hourly payroll in the ADP system
- Fill out daily notes
- Enter work orders in SAP/SSY and contact maintenance for repairs
- Communicating with other departments during upset conditions
- Use of the Ignition system for trending and troubleshooting purposes
- Ensure that all checklists are being understood and filled out entirely for compliance
