At our Valparaiso workshop, we refurbish and repair blast furnace equipment for our customers.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical duties on equipment as instructed, in accordance with QA, health/safety and OSHA requirements and policies
- Disassemble, assemble and test equipment at the direction of the Workshop Manager
- Perform fabrication of lightweight apparatus and/or structures used in the maintenance of equipment
- Interface with project management, engineers, technical personnel and other staff as needed to complete projects.
- Perform housekeeping and maintenance activities as required
- Provide any additional support where needed
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Job Qualifications
- Prefer a minimum of three years of experience with refurbishment / reconditioning on parts in a job shop or similar environment
- Knowledge of disassembly, assembly, machining and fabrication methods including MIG, SMAW & TIG welding practices
- Knowledge of overhead crane, lift trucks and maintenance including hoisting and rigging techniques
- Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic & piping systems
- Knowledge of electrical systems (wiring motors and small panels)
- Knowledge in the use of hand and power tools is required
- Ability to read prints and drawings
- Ability to follow step-by-step procedures with accuracy is required
- Candidate must have good interpersonal and communication skills
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Education Requirements: Vocational or High School; Specialized Technical Training and/or on the job experience (preferred)
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
- Remain in a standing or walking position for extended periods of time
- Stoop, kneel, crouch and bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis
- Lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
Schedule
- Full-Time, 8-hour shift
- Monday to Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm, with 30 minutes for lunch
