What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technician-Molding position at SMP Automotive Systems Alabama Inc?
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Scientific Molding RJG or Injection Molding course work.
- 2 years of performing similar molding responsibilities (over 3 preferred): set up mold, programming - with automotive molding experience preferred - but not required
- Technical experience in plastic injection molding with high tonnage machines (from 550 to 3500 ton) Engel preferred
- Setups and changeovers.
- Hands-on, fast-paced environment
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of auxiliary equipment - hydraulics, hot runner controllers
Main Duties:
- Set up dryer/material feeding system
- Review material MFI, Density and Moisture test
- Implement 5’s on Molding Machines
- Set up hydraulic and pneumatic mold connections
- Responsible for molding machine preventive maintenance
- Assist with installation of dies according to specs using clamps, bolts, and hand tools
- Responsible for mold first level preventive maintenance
- Record process changes using SMP guidelines
- Responsible for process monitoring
- Communicate shift behavior to the team using SMP standards
- Responsible for filling in the process data on the first piece sheet
- Save the last good production piece
