Responsibilities
- Safely operate a range of commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight efficiently using appropriate equipment such as forklifts when necessary
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with federal and state regulations
- Plan optimal routes for timely deliveries while managing route driving responsibilities effectively
- Deliver freight to various locations with professionalism and excellent customer service skills
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and vehicle maintenance reports
- Communicate proactively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or any issues encountered during trips
Skills
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record and proven experience in commercial driving environments
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission trucks and handling specialized vehicles such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks
- Strong knowledge of freight handling procedures including load & unload operations
- Experience with route planning and navigation tools for efficient delivery scheduling
- Ability to operate auxiliary equipment such as forklifts safely when necessary
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction
- Physical ability to perform truck driving duties that may include lifting heavy loads and performing vehicle inspections
