Smooth-On, Inc. is seeking a 1st Shift Industrial Plant Custodian to join our company. This role will be responsible for ensuring the production and shipping areas are sanitary, attractive, and orderly. This position maintains equipment and facility cleanliness through a preventative maintenance (PM) program and routine housekeeping tasks. Position Summary:
The Industrial Plant Custodian is responsible for ensuring the production and shipping areas are sanitary, attractive, and orderly. This position maintains equipment and facility cleanliness through a preventative maintenance (PM) program and routine housekeeping tasks. The role also involves light construction, material handling, vendor communications, and maintaining recycling operations. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work independently while maintaining a high standard of professionalism.
Essential Job Functions
1. Work with all employees, customers, and vendors in a civil, professional, and respectful manner—verbally, non-verbally, and in writing.
2. Follow daily, weekly, and monthly PM schedules to ensure all assigned tasks are completed on time.
3. Maintain production and shipping areas by performing regular industrial plant cleaning, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing.
4. Operate power scrubbers, vacuums, and other cleaning equipment to maintain floors.
5. Gather and dispose of rubbish and waste materials by hand or with powered equipment.
6. Perform light construction tasks, office furniture moving, and other facility-related maintenance as assigned.
7. Observe conditions of premises and equipment; report needed repairs and safety hazards to Management.
8. Make recommendations for facility, grounds, and equipment repairs or improvements.
9. Perform routine maintenance on cleaning and custodial machinery.
10. Communicate with vendors via email and phone regarding supplies and service needs.
11. Maintain drink supply in soda machines, conduct inventory, and restock monthly.
12. Remove cardboard and operate a vertical downstroke baler to create bales for OCC recycling.
13. Manage scrap steel collection for recycling.
14. Perform other job-related duties as required.
