Smooth Automotive is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Lead Automotive Technician to join our team.
We are a busy, well-established, modern auto repair shop in Arlington, MA with a strong customer base, great reviews, and a team-focused work environment. Our customers and employees love Smooth Automotive, and we are looking for the right person to grow with us.
This position is ideal for an experienced A-level technician who can work independently, diagnose vehicles accurately, perform high-quality repairs, and help lead the shop floor when needed.
Schedule
Monday through Friday
9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
No weekends
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will be able to:
- Diagnose and repair a wide range of domestic, Asian, and European vehicles
- Perform advanced diagnostics, including electrical, drivability, check-engine light, no-start, and performance issues
- Complete repairs efficiently and correctly the first time
- Assist other technicians with diagnostics, repairs, and technical questions when needed
- Help maintain quality control and keep jobs moving through the shop
- Communicate clearly with service advisors and team members
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area
- Bring a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and team-first mindset every day
Services We Perform
We perform a full range of repairs and services, including:
- Diagnostics and electrical repairs
- Ignition systems
- Heating and air conditioning
- Steering and suspension
- Brakes and axles
- Tires, wheels, and tire equipment
- Alignments
- Engine repairs
- Transmission-related repairs and service
- Fuel and injection systems
- General maintenance and repair
Qualifications
- 5 years of professional automotive repair experience
- Strong diagnostic ability
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision
- Leadership ability and willingness to assist other technicians
- Experience working on a wide range of vehicles
- Strong attention to detail
- Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism
- Team-oriented attitude
- Valid driver’s license required
- ASE certifications are a plus, but not required
