PHYSICAL THERAPIST PROVIDING OUTPATIENT VISITS IN WAYNESVILLE, NC
Smoky Mountain Sports Medicine & Physical Therapy is hiring a Full Time Physical Therapist to provide outpatient visits in Waynesville, NC. Smoky Mountain PT is a clinician-owned private practice with multiple offices. Generous pay rate, PTO, health insurance stipend, 401(k). Specific details to follow when application is received. Start date of June 1, 2026 or as soon as possible.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Physical Therapist agrees to perform at a professional level of competence the services, duties, and obligations required by the laws of the State of North Carolina and the rules, regulations, and policies of Smoky Mountain Sports Medicine & Physical Therapy (SMSMPT) which are now existing, or which may be hereinafter enacted by SMSMPT. SMSMPT agrees to furnish the employee with a written copy of all such rules, regulations, and policies now in effect or becoming effective during the term of employment.
The employee agrees to devote agreed upon hours per week to the duties and responsibilities normally expected of the position during the term of this employment and shall not engage in any pursuit which interferes with the proper discharge of such duties and responsibilities.
The Physical Therapist is expected to stand for prolonged periods, assist patients as needed with transfers/exercises/other activities as needed, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, and create a professional atmosphere in accordance to the Mission and Vision of SMSMPT.
SERVICES, DUTIES, and OBLIGATIONS
In general, the Physical Therapist will perform duties including, but not limited to:
- Perform evaluations, Plans of Care, patient treatments
- Practice in accordance to North Carolina Physical Therapy Practice Act
- Administers medically prescribed physical therapy treatment for patients suffering from injuries, or muscle, nerve, joint and bone diseases, to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability
- Reviews physician's referral (prescription) and patient's condition and medical records to ensure physical therapy treatment provided is safe and appropriate.
- Administers treatments/exercises to improve and maintain function.
- Instructs, motivates, and assists patient to perform various physical activities, such as exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, and in use of assistive and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
- Administers treatments involving application of physical agents
- Monitors effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
- Records treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart.
- Instructs patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
- Orients, instructs, and directs work activities of aides and students.
- May plan and conduct lectures and training programs on physical therapy and related topics for medical staff, students, and community groups.
- Must comply with state requirement for licensure.

Pay: $34.00 - $45.00 per hour
