Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and the ability to provide a safe and nurturing environment for pets. As a Kennel Technician, you will be responsible for the daily care of animals in our facility, ensuring their health and well-being while maintaining cleanliness and organization.
Ideally located in Newport or near shelter due to inclement weather during winter.
We are a smoke free work environment
Must have transportation and clean driving record.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and exercising.
- Clean and maintain kennels, play areas, and other animal housing facilities.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to shelter manager.
- Assist with animal restraint during examinations or procedures.
- Support pet grooming activities as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of animal care and treatment.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and sanitation standards.
Skills
- Experience in kennel or animal care settings is desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required when handling larger animals or equipment. Must be able to lift 40 pounds easily.
- Strong skills in animal care, including feeding, grooming, and general handling.
- Dog handling abilities to ensure safe interactions during playtime or training.
